St Croix golf - do it in an exotic way
St. Croix has two of the best Caribbean golf courses in the US Virgin Islands. Caribbean golf courses can sometimes be more of a "goat track" than world class courses. Not so on St. Croix! You'll find a world class Caribbean golf course at the Carambola Golf & Country Club. Carambola is a spectacular, 18 hole, Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed course. You'll also find the beautiful, 18 hole course at the Buccaneer Resort. If you don't have time for 18 holes you can try the 9 hole Reef golf course. Nestled in the valleyed northwestern section of St. Croix is the Laurence Rockefeller built and Robert Trent Jones-designed Carambola Golf Course. Since opening thirty years ago, the Carambola Golf Club has been awarded a gold medal by GOLF magazine for being one of the finest golf resorts in the world and given a four-star rating by Golf Digest. The par-72 course winds through a lush valley, with several spring-fed lakes doubling as water hazards on seven picturesque holes. Bright tropical foliage and rolling terrain gives an exotic appeal with nearly 100 bunkers providing a stern test for the accomplished golfer. Four sets of tee markers and ample landing areas also makes Carambola a golf course players of all skill levels can enjoy. Facilities for golfers include an expanded clubhouse, a practice putting green, a driving range, restaurant, bar and fully stocked pro shop. Buccaneer is an 18 hole golf course located just east of Christiansted and is a scenic 30 minute drive from Villa Dawn, just a 10 minute drive from Caribbean Dream and about 20 minutes from Caribbean Breeze. It was built on the grounds of a former sugar plantation. The hilly terrain of this course offers stunning views and leads you right to the edge of the Caribbean sea. The Reef is a 9-hole course set in the valley on beautiful Teague Bay on the northeastern part of St. Croix, just 10 minutes from Caribbean Dream. In fact, if you play on The Reef, you will be playing on the most eastern golf course of the United States! This course with 3000 yards of fairways, groomed greens, and water hazards will challenge all levels of golfers. They also have a driving range, a fully stocked pro shop and 2 newly resurfaced tennis courts.
